Proto-Productions was founded by Student filmmakers, who wanted to do MORE. We wanted to make exciting new projects on our own terms, we wanted to develop them, market them and distribute them.
We wanted to make good on the dream that draws everyone to the film industry.
A dream that didn't include AI generated slop and a lack of magic in a medium we care so much about. Our job is to trailblaze a path for student filmmakers from all over the country, to stand up and make something wonderful.

To create the path, we require an aspect fundemental to every creative. Humanity. Proto-Productions is all about human effort and collaboration.
As such, unlike other companies, we are a flexible and open opperation that invites creatives and ideas from all fields, mediums and expertise.

Then so do we. We encourage connection from creatives of all paradigms to enrich our storytelling potential and outreach.

As a country with a history in film such as our own, it is impossible to believe we aren’t capable of transgressive and powerful storytelling.
The lack representation of Australian media on the world stage has perpretuated a subconcious bias - that Australian media, isn’t inherently valuable.
We Disagree.
Australia pioneered film as a medium. We feel it’s high time to reinvigour that kind of ambition. And with your help, we will do just that.
